Welcome to Jura Labs CIC, a Community Interest Company registered in England & Wales (Company No. 17117467). These terms and conditions outline the rules and regulations for the use of Jura Labs' website (juralabs.org) and the ROOTED carbon calculator software.

Jurisdiction

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes relating to these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer based in the European Economic Area, you may also have rights under local consumer protection laws that cannot be overridden by this choice of jurisdiction.

Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, Jura Labs and/or its licensors own the intellectual property rights for all material on this website. All intellectual property rights are reserved. You may access this material for your own personal use subject to the restrictions set in these terms.

ROOTED is licensed under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0. It is free for non-profits, government organisations, and charities. Commercial use requires a separate licence; please contact us for details.

ROOTED Beta Programme

ROOTED is currently available as a public beta. By participating in the pilot cohort or using the beta software, you acknowledge that:

  • The software is provided "as is" and may contain bugs or incomplete features.
  • Emission calculations are based on verified emission factors but should be reviewed before use in formal compliance submissions.
  • Jura Labs may update the software, emission factors, or features at any time during the beta period.

Pilot Programme {#pilot-programme}

By applying to the ROOTED Pilot Programme, you agree to the following additional terms:

  • Eligibility: The pilot is open to organisations and sole traders based in the United Kingdom, Ireland, or Denmark with fewer than 249 people.
  • Access period: Pilot participants receive access to a hosted ROOTED instance for up to 7 days from the date access is granted.
  • Data handling: All emissions data processed during the pilot remains on the hosted virtual machine. After the 7-day pilot period, the virtual machine and all data stored on it will be permanently deleted. Jura Labs does not retain copies of your pilot data.
  • Feedback requirement: Pilot participants agree to complete a short feedback survey and to be contacted by the Jura Labs team for the purpose of improving the ROOTED product. Feedback may be anonymised and used to guide development.
  • Testimonials: If you choose to provide a testimonial as part of the feedback survey, Jura Labs may use it on the website and marketing materials. We will contact you to confirm permission before publication.
  • No guarantee of continued access: The pilot is a time-limited trial. Participation does not guarantee future access to ROOTED or any specific features.
  • Withdrawal: You may withdraw from the pilot at any time by contacting us at paul@juralabs.org. Your hosted instance and all data will be destroyed within 48 hours of your request.

Emissions Reporting Disclaimer

ROOTED provides estimated carbon emissions calculations based on published emission factors from government and research sources (including DESNZ and SEAI). These calculations are intended as a guide to support your sustainability reporting. They should not be treated as certified emissions data. Jura Labs CIC accepts no liability for compliance decisions, regulatory submissions, or financial commitments made on the basis of ROOTED calculations. We recommend independent verification before using ROOTED outputs in formal compliance submissions such as CSRD reports, PPN 06/21 Carbon Reduction Plans, or SORP disclosures.

Your Data

ROOTED is designed so that all data remains on your device. Jura Labs has no access to your emissions data, financial records, or any information processed by the software. We do not collect telemetry, usage analytics, or personal data from the ROOTED application.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we exclude all representations, warranties, and conditions relating to our website and the use of this website and software. Nothing in this disclaimer will:

  • Limit or exclude our or your liability for death or personal injury;
  • Limit or exclude our or your liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • Limit any of our or your liabilities in any way that is not permitted under applicable law.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent changes were made. Continued use of the website or software after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
